The lake has had bass in it for years.. In the summer it's 1/2 covered in water hyacinth so I'm guessing it's helping keep it cool.. Turn over or freezing was my concern but the rancher who is out there daily says he has never seen any dead fish.. It's a mystery..

Have you checked for otters, they will clean a lake out.

If it's that shallow, the freeze probably killed a bunch of fish.

I would doubt it killed many if any bass, ours are full of small ones this spring.

We have never seen an otter but they could be there... Some monster gators though.. Several 10' and bigger. One pushing 13'. I'm sure an otter would be in a bind in a hurry...
