I tool a dump in the woods last weekend and my dog actually beat the flies to it. Kinda grossed me out.

I thought it was just my daughters dumbarse shetzu. There was a dead baby bird in the driveway and it would go right to it and roll on it. It also eats the rabbit's pellets. Then it tries to come lick me and gets field goaled.

I read somewhere once it was to “let the pack know there was a dead animal nearby....food.”

                    Don’t know if that’s true.

                      Mine prefers the urine spots.

That calls for an instant bath.

I have seen people let their dogs lick them on the face and mouth, and my first thought is ol Rover just had him a mouthful of nuts and butthole, or ate a tird big as your forearm. All I can do is grin and not say a word.

I think he was trying to say it's instinct and even though it's gross you should let your dog do it so it don't divorce you.

                            Or something kinda like that.

I heard a few years back that it’s a predator instinct for them. Kind of like how we wear cover scent. Prey won’t freak out over the smell of a dead animal or animal crap, so they roll to mask themselves. Idk if it’s true or not but it makes sense to me.

When I was a kid my dad told me their hunting instinct tells them to use anything stinky as a cover scent. Maybe we can get them to switch to vanilla
