Having lived through 5 hurricanes, not to mention Harvey and Imelda, since I have lived here you should never never hope you get a storm or that anyone else does.

I’ve lived near the gulf coast 44 years and never had a direct hit from a hurricane, gotten a lot of rain from some but no winds over 70mph

Just got looking at all the latest models runs. Besides the UKMET (middle Texas coast), most models are bringing a powerful hurricane ashore along the upper Texas coast/western Louisiana. Just passing on the message.

latest GFS and Euro Ensembles both have it going into Houston, one as a cat3 and the other as a cat 2. both OPS models had it going east of houston. still early, but certainly has my attention.

Timing is everything with this one. Models all over the place. Depends on and where and when the COC forms. But one thing that does look like a sure thing there will be a named storm and it has a chance to make a landfall somewhere in Mexico to Louisiana or in between.

Iíve been in and around a few.

I donít remember which storm it was but it snuck up on us in the gulf and we where the last chopper ride out of EC60. We had two dudes that weighed over 550 pounds combined leaning on the side of the chopper to keep the legs down. When we took off that heliport thatís probably been the most scared Iíve ever been in my life.

No sir, more Easterly track towards Louisiana, following the high pressure that moved over the Carolinas. As the rear of the high weakens, it's expected to draw the storm in behind.

More tracks have shifted further East this morning to the New Orleans area per his update this morning. He is expecting the Southeast Texas area to only experience higher than normal tides along the coast.

Greg Bostwick on Facebook and KFDM News. He's not into sensationalism at all.

Yesterday evenings news (Channel2) was showing a Louisiana landfall. I flipped the channel to 13 and they were saying a Houston landfall. Crazy how those 2 stations are reporting the weather, at the same time BUT completely 2 different areas for landfall.

I have learned over the years to trust the "Weather Folks" on TBH over the news media.

He's pretty good. He took the Laura storm on the chin and got a lot of flack on that one and took it personally. He was attacked pretty good in the social media outlets but spent a lot of time investigating after the fact and came back and explained exactly what happened in regards to the winds being so high in Bridge City and Orange, an area West of the center that should not have seen those level winds. It all made sense and was not in anyone's forecast, just a freak deal that lined up perfectly.

He's been at it 40 years and has a few storms under his belt, most of them being big.

this first cone from the NHC does not look good for NOLA. no interaction with the yucatan and very little with Cuba, followed by a couple days in very warm open water...
