Headed to Destin soon and watching 94L closely. Next two Months are key for Texas so thought I would start the discussion.

Maybe start with the summary for policy makers then decide if you are interested in anything further.

Eric and his team are top notch when it comes to Tropics forecast. They don't hype it up.

They also have been wrong nearly the entire summer, I wouldn't hype that record either!

Historically though, they actually have done a real good job since Harvey, and one of the few places I trust. About as much as the TBH weather guys. I have been following SCW because we need to buy a new genny for the house, and I am pushing it as late as possible LOL

I started following them around Hurricane Ike. IMHO they take the no hype too far and don't mention things or mention them soon enough at times. Still one of my top resources

They have been fairly accurate then last 18 months I have been following. At least enough to be aware of it.

As always nothing to treat as the bible but good to be aware.

I was just saying the same thing to myself!

August 31st...birds everywhere. Recent rains have tanks full of water. Temps below 100, slight breeze.

September 1st...not a bird in sight. Hot. Humidity thick enough to turn with a spatula. No breeze; not a thing stirring. It's miserable and yet, for no other reason other than it's September 1st, there we sit.

They are saying now the most likely target is along the Texas/Mexico border.

A lot can change between now and then.

And the next model run doesn’t even show that being a storm or impacting Texas. That’s why I don’t pay attention much to those that far out.

Probabilities are high that we will see a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend and into the beginning of next week. We will just have to wait and see...just depends if the ridge keeps it west of us or if this system sniffs out a weakness in the ridge and hits the Texas coast. Definitely wouldn't rule out a Texas landfall so we need to watch this one closely.
