Thanks, I don't know if I am talented but I have a huge drive and determination to do things myself.

Here is a new piece of oak I cut for the mantle. The other one was about 8" shy of being as wide as the rock. This guy here is very heavy, the picture doesn't do it any justice. It has plenty of character up close.

That looks fantastic. I bet that sucker was plenty heavy!

Guess I'll update the build with a few pics since someone bumped it up.

Playing trim carpenter and cabinet maker as of late. Painting isn't my favorite thig to do.
I hate it but it's got to be done. It's been alot of work on my part but it's finally starting to look like a home to me.

Man this entire thread is awesome. Can't wait to see all the cabinets put in.

Yeah I want to work on cabinets but the boss has me doing trim. Trim takes some time because of the cutting/painting/caulking etc. I have my my miter saw set up with a dust collector and it’s been working ok but still creating dust in the house. I am also trying to get the stairs finished.

I put a bunch of work into the stairwell this past weekend. I have been putting doing this off for a long time but think it came out well. Originally I didn't build them quite right and had to trim the sides and front along with cleaning all the primer and drywall junk off of them.

                  This is how they started.

I made a aluminum jig to help with cutting the treads and risers.

                  Just about done!

Here's a view from the top looking down.

I still need a little trim and some clear poly on the treads.

Haven’t gotten much done with deer season and the holidays going on. My photo host hasn’t been working for weeks now.
I am going to try Tapatalk to post a few pics.

Liking the ways the stairs are looking.
