Beautiful buck, wilcox. How is everyone’s fawn crop looking? We have two pastures east of town and aren’t seeing many fawns on either one.

Anyone on here hunt off of 1674 just north of the menard county line? Got a doe last weekend, but heard both pigs and axis nearby. Have never seen any of those on our place before.

I am seeing lots of fawns south and west of town. I am not sure why you are not seeing them east of town.

Most of the county had an inch and above on Wednesday which was needed to follow up the last rain. Supposed to cool off in the morning for a few days. Deer seem to be moving pretty well in the evenings.

Joining in, my place has been hard to hunt this year! my daughter did kill her first doe with a compound but all the deer are super skidish and nothing over 3.5 has been seen on cameras or in person. Hope some cold weather and the Rut changes that.

I just got back yesterday after a few days hunting. I did see some deer but no big boys. Not a surprise with the moon and the warm weather. One thing I did notice is that I cannot find ANY acorns on our place. I wasn’t all over it, but in the areas why I hunted I saw zero. The deer were acting that way too, as the small ones were gobbling up every kernel of corn they could get to.

Thanks for the report. I’m heading to my lease tomorrow to top feeders off and get ready for the gun opener. We’ve also noticed no acorns the last few trips.

I went to our place in Ft. Mckavett last weekend. Lots of deer movement all day long. Tons of deer on feeders and our hand corn spots. I'm not seeing any acorns and the does seem a bit run down. One of my boys and I killed 2 does and a hog each. i gave the boy a green light on a 6yo management 8pt but he never got a shot after drawing. The crisp mornings were heaven. Ya'll have fun this weekend and good luck.

Smoked a couple big pigs tonight. Don’t run off my deer!

Saw a total of 5 bucks and a group of does milling around about 75 yards away. Pretty cool 7 I’d like to get my wife on or one of the kids on the place.

I have always seen the real rut (bucks locked down with does) to be Thanksgiving week. As far as the best time to be in the stand to see mature bucks on the move, that has always been the third weekend of the season, and then again around December 10th or so.

I would say last week in November and first week in December. I have been hunting up there since I was a kid and it has slowly started creeping toward early December. The last three years I have seen my biggest buck on December 1st twice and November 30 last year.

Yea, usually around Thanksgiving. I expect the rut to be a little earlier this year as most of the does are in pretty good shape. We got a little rain across the county last night (.4" in town) which should help keep things green for a few more days. Winter grass is starting to show up a little and this rain will give it a boost.

I don't know of anyone who will take them. There are so many hogs that we have overflowed the demand. Buzzards have to eat too.
