Default School me on AR triggers?

So I've got a rifle I really like, it's not really an AR in spirit, it's a Bison Armory bull barrel with target crown in 6.8spc. Great shooter but she needs a better trigger. I was just aboot to order a LaRue MBT-2S because it's cheap just like me and I figured I should probably take a step back and ask some folks who know better than me. I did some googling but most AR trigger talk seems to be more along the lines of a battle rifle style whereas this one's more geared to range sessions and hunting fun. There's a guy with a Geissele 2 stage in the classifieds also I was curious about but that seems very similar to the LaRue at least to my untrained eye.

CMC Is what I run if I replace a trigger on several of my rifles. My Falkor Petra has a geissele.

Larue is the destination bang for your buck. When you look at the prices of the other top triggers and try out a larue it makes you wonder why the others cost so much. I'm talking the 2 stage triggers here and don't let anyone tell you they are hard to get used to.

I put the Larue in mine and really like it. I am not a precision shooter with mine, it's all bout how many rounds can I get off before the pigs get out of sight...

I'm not hung up on 2 stage, don't know enough to know whether I want 2 or 1 stage, etc. I do like most bang for my buck usually but this rifle I wouldn't mind splurging IF there's benefit to it.

You won't find a better 2 stage than the Larue.

I'll be the one who says I don't like a 2 stage. CMC triggers are great. I also like POF triggers. I've never tried the Larue but for a 2 stage they do get a lot of positive reviews. Find a shop that has them on display and try them out.

Lol. Trigger Tech is the king.

Larue is a good trigger for $90.

Gieselle makes excellent single and double stage triggers. I go 2 stage very light to prevent double taps.

Trigger Tech diamond 2 stage is the nicest trigger I’ve ever used in an AR platform. Extremely consistent. Can be tuned very light. And still retains full hammer force regardless of pull weight.

Gieselle makes a ton of different models. They are NOT all on the same level. Trigger tech is well worth the extra money over G

I own 2 of the trigger tech diamonds and 3-4 gieselle triggers in different ARs. So this is coming from personal experience and not just speaking of shooting a buddies rifle once or reading something on the internet.

I have Larue MBT and Geissele SSA-E. Larue hands down for the money. I’m not a technical .25 MOA shooter so I can’t tell a difference between the 2 except in the wallet.

I'm no gunsmith by any any means, but like you said yourself, I'm cheap. I did a trigger job on my AR, per a how-to I found on youtube, and it made all the difference in the world. I figured I didn't have anything to lose, and if I screwed it up, I'd just buy a new trigger. But I was really pleased with the results of my DIY improvements.

There are lots of good options out there. Iíve ran several different ones. The larue will be hard to beat for the price point.

I will say though that optics planet will run specials on different ones and if you wait you can get a better trigger for a little more. Last year I got a trigger tech two stage from them for $116 shipped on July 4th and it blows the larue out of the water. Wish I had bought a bunch of them.

I don't remember what spring kit I purchased, but this is what I did. I couldn't believe what a difference it made in the trigger performance. It went from feeling like extra gritty sandpaper, to butter.........

Larue is the best option for $90, but it’s far from the best option. Geissele is what all my rifles wear, but if I were doing it over today they’d be running Triggertech Diamonds. I currently run SDE and SD3G depending on usage. There’s been a few other triggers over the years that have made me give them a second look, but the Diamond is the only one that made me want to swap. I haven’t bought an AR trigger in 5+ years, and kinda just stick with what I have though.

This is exactly what my setups are like either Geisselle SDE or 3G. Iíve not tried a TT and I havenít built an AR in several years either.

I've got three CMC triggers. They are good. Made a really big difference in myblong range shooting for sure. My R15 I've made several shots at yotes and pigs in the 175 to 250 yards ranges and bullets are popping them exactly where I had the crosshairs. Clean breaks, smooth with very little take up or over travel.

Just a little input on my part. Iíve ram triggers from a lot of the top names and my top two choices would be a trigger tech diamond or there is a guy who owns a small company and sells through gunbroker. I believe the companies name is BlackWidow Triggers, they are phenomenal, and fairly affordable being a small company. The one I have is a 2.5lb curved drop in group, no take up very crisp break on pull and a super tactile reset. IMO one of the best feeling ones out there, but thatís just my 2 cents

What are you looking for in a trigger and whatís your budget? Easier approach.

Also remember this. You ask a lot of guys who some may have tried them all or most. And others tried one and fell in love. A mustang nay be great to one to guy but heís never drove a Ferrari. So he doesnít know what he may or may not be missing.

90% of these answers will be just cuz itís their favorite and it may be all they know. 5% will probably be the most expensive cuz itís the most expensive. The rest will probably be unbiased reviews. Read reviews and the overwhelming majority is for Geiselle. I ventured away from them to Trigger Tech and was blown away. Unfortunately they are very expensive. Iíll be the first to say the most expensive doesnít mean the best but you usually get what you pay for.

Oh yeah I was just funnin, definitely figured I'd get a million different answers.
Budget up to $250ish if it's worth it but if there's a barely noticeable difference I'd rather pay less for almost as good. Mostly bench shooting with this gun but it'll get the nod for certain short range hunting purposes when I know 200 yards or so is about max, the 6.8spc isn't a great performer too much further past that on animals.

Based on this post Iíd say just go with the Larue. It will likely do everything you need it to.

Iíd venture to say it will do most of what 95% of shooters need.

Then you will need a 1/2oz single stage trigger & a specialized skinner bayonet...

Seriously, a clean breaking trigger be it 1lb or 3lb will work for a hunting rig...I hate the two stage for a battle rig, but the 2 stager is fine for paper & critters & maybe preferable once you get used to it.

ANYTHING is better than the standard GI!!

Coolio, I think I'm going with the LaRue for this weapon. I really appreciate the discussion here, much more valued reading what my peers here have to say than random google results. Copy that on the bayonet, definitely getting that next!
