At what point will the insurance cover this surgery? I had an eye exam last year and knew that I had a cataract in my left eye for the past two years. Last week I found out that I now have one in the right eye as well. I’d like to have em done now and spring for the corrective lenses to be put in but seems like I’ll have to wait until I’m struggling. Thanks in advance

I had to wait till Medicare kicked in. I had crappy insurance and it would cover the 16,000.00 bill. Once I was able to sign up for Medicare and a Humana Supplement Plan I was able to get them done for $8000.00 I could have gotten them done for nothing if I still wanted to wear glasses, however I decided to get the upgraded lenses so I don't have to wear glasses except to read small print.

I was told I had one in the right eye first, then a year later the left, it took about 2 years ,to were i was getting blinded by on coming cars and could not see tv in the dark. went to Cataract Specialist in Dallas and got both eyes done insurance paid 100%,
(deductable was paid) for the normal see far but need reader up close.. if i wanted up close and far it was $3000 out of pocket, i was cheap and opted not get the dual lens... i now kick my self in the arse for not doing it as the readers is a pain in the butt
