    Cataract surgery

At what point will the insurance cover this surgery? I had an eye exam last year and knew that I had a cataract in my left eye for the past two years. Last week I found out that I now have one in the right eye as well. I’d like to have em done now and spring for the corrective lenses to be put in but seems like I’ll have to wait until I’m struggling. Thanks in advance

The first time they told me I had cataract's we scheduled the surgery and my insurance paid for most of it. I think if the Dr writes it up correctly the insurance company shouldn't have a problem with it.

I had to wait till Medicare kicked in. I had crappy insurance and it would cover the 16,000.00 bill. Once I was able to sign up for Medicare and a Humana Supplement Plan I was able to get them done for $8000.00 I could have gotten them done for nothing if I still wanted to wear glasses, however I decided to get the upgraded lenses so I don't have to wear glasses except to read small print.

If all my preop stuff comes back OK, I will have my left eye done in about 16 days.

The Dr has to write up correctly or it will cost you out the $$$.
