What’s considered a trophy Rio grande?

What’s a trophy Rio grande? I’ve the chance to kill a few over the past couple of years and am curious. I have never measured spurs but have killed a couple with 10-11 inch beards, is this big? What is used to determine size, weight, beard length, spurs?

    Scoring your turkey

    For Rios:
    longest beard: 15.375"
    longest spur: 2.25"
    weight: 37#

    3 different birds

^^ good data. Anything 10”+ beard is a good bird. I like long spurs, but depending on how rocky your terrain is, Spurs can get worn down

To me size isn’t everything, more about the hunt.
I think it’s in the eye of the beholder. It could be a wise ol bird you have hunted hard all season and it finally slipped up and you shot it with your recurve. Or it could be a multi bearded tom you drove up on while checking a water trough and shot with your glock. Going to vary a bit from person to person.

3+ yr old that comes in to the call within 30 yds.
My longest beard was also attached to my longest spurred bird

                    Weight varies by conditions.

Thanks for the input, I have had a lot of fun hunting them, longest beard was around 11 inches, and I shot one that weighed right @30#. I can’t imagine a 37# bird!

Why does it have to be a trophy ?
