    Dying Blackbuck

We have a couple of blackbuck doe that were seemingly healthy one day and 1 dead and. The other dying the next. Any ideas on what might be the issue? The one found dying was very disoriented and would try to get up but fail.

Where are you at in Texas? That sure sounds like CWD.

I don't know, but assuming you haven't introduced any new pesticides, rodent baits, etc. it may not be a bad idea to contact the GW or a biologist.

Doubt it’s CWD, call a vet in the area.

I think you're good on that then. Not really in that risk area.

No way is CWD- chronic wasting disease means they can have it for years and may never display symptoms but to have symptoms not gonna happen. Possible contagious illness or poisoning from vegetation?

Blackbuck don't tolerate the cold very well. Temps where you are?

I have heard they have a hard time in freezing weather as well.

Cold weather got em. Have a buddy that lost his entire heard during a freeze a couple of years ago.

We lost around 40 a few years back due to the cold weather

Is it that they had not acclimated to the colder weather yet? Reason for the question is they are everywhere in the hill country and we've had way worse cold snaps than this and I hadn't ever heard of any die offs...

The extended cold is most likely the reason.
