I suppose the attitude of many that just want to kill a specific animal is ok with most hunters. I have no issue with that. Congrats.

Well a final write up. The bear was scored today and It measured 27 5/16. Just short of B&C. The biologist that tagged It, did so back in 2006. Bear was killed 80 miles from tagging site. Bear is estimated to be 19-20 years old. This is the slug I pulled from the front shoulder. The bait went cold after that night. Same thing happened last year after we shot a big bear. We will have to run more baits next year lol. Time to catch Salmon now!

Been covered up with brownies up here as well, I can't hunt them until October. Been hell getting a black bear in because of them!

338 Lapua right, what type of projectile is that? Or was this the one you found that was already in him when you skinned him?

The state doesn’t require it, and it can be loaded with worms and other parasites. Some guys do, but I’ve got enough other sources of meat that risk from eating brown bear meat just doesn’t pencil out.

Seems like a waste to kill such a big animal that is an apex predator for just a hide and a skull.....

More dead bears = more moose on the ground.
