    Southern Illinois whitetail hunt booked

Just booked a whitetail trip to southern Illinois. I will be hunting with primetime outfitters llc November 1-5. Should be the beginning of the rut I am hoping. I have never hunted with them but remember the thread below and have been following them on Facebook. The price does not seem to bad. 2500 for all lodging, meals, and tags. As of this morning they still had one spot left for that week.

Here is the link from the hunt a couple years ago

Here is the Facebook page. https://m.facebook.com/primetimeoutfittersllc/

Should be a good trip and I am looking forward to it.

The weather in that area that time of year can be tricky. Could be cold and snowing or it could be in the 80's. Best of luck.

True, should be better than the heat we have now

              Good luck with the hunt!

Snow the 1st week of November is very unlikely. I've hunted gun season here since about 1990 & can think of one year we had snow on opening day (which is between Nov 16-22).

Too warm is a much more common problem. Pray for 10-15 degrees below average on the temps. Oh & not too much wind!

Last year around the 8-13th, we had a cold snap, about a 40 degree swing & it shocked the deer so much it took them a couple days to start moving like normal again. Deer seemed to move most mid-day for those few days. In addition to morning/evening hunts, you definitely want to be in a stand from 10:30ish to 1ish. Unless you have the stamina to hunt dark to dark (I don't).

I hunted Missouri last year and you are right about that. The rolling hills, and giant grain/crop fields. Just waiting for the majestic deer to emerge.

I hunt that week every year in southern Illinois. I just hunt public land of which there is an abundance. Weather is usually perfect but as mentioned above it can change in a hurry. Good luck. There are some monsters lurking in that area.
