i bought a 1/2 ton ram just over 2 years ago and i am now in need of tires. it came with D rated tires and i occasionally feel they are a bit soft, mostly when towing though.
the previous 18 years i was in a 3/4 ton and always ran E rated on that 3/4 ton. anyone have input on E rated being preferred or a bit too much for a 1/2 ton? 275/60/20 is the size im looking at. |

If you don’t mind a stiffer ride go for it. It wouldn’t bother me a bit.

I have E load tires on my 1/2 ton work truck. I carry a lot of weight , and the d rated tires don't last

I'm running 265/70/17 E's on a 4runner and don't find the ride objectional at all. Just don't run them at the max recommended pressure.

I would put load range E on a Honda Civic if they made the right size. Tougher, stronger, longer lasting than a D.

I run "e" on my F150 and inflated at the right pressure they are serving me well. Buy E's. you will not be disappointed.

That’s what discount tire told me when I bought my E’s, just feels odd running less than half the pressure they’re rated for...
My truck came with SL tires and the sticker reads 35. I’m used to running 65/80 in Es on bigger company trucks. |

I'm running my Cooper Discover ATP @ 65 psi front and rear
On my 98 Z71 I started off at 35. Ride was mushy, and it was slow to accelerate. I was getting 10-12 mpg as well. After I bumped then to 65, I'm averaging 14.5 mpg and the ride isn't mushy feeling. |

I run nothing but E rated tires on everything.
Currently running 45 PSI on the half ton for work. I run 65 on the toyota though, I like them a little stiffer for running around legit off road in the brush and thorns. I feel like they get less thorns in the sidewalls when aired up to a higher pressure. |

E's! E has deeper tread typically too in AT tires

I just bought E's on a 1/2 ton and they are filled at 40#. Everyone told me "get ready for a stiffer ride"....but that wasn't the case....can't tell a difference in the D's vs E's
