    Average Tracking Distance

On average, how far does a deer run after being hit with and arrow?

Depends on the shot. Heart shot they don’t go 50 yards, lungs 100 or so. After that there’s no telling.

I've found the opposite. My heart shot deer always run farther than my lung shot deer.

I'd say average for a lethally wounded deer that's not disturbed is about 100 yards. Some less, some a little more. There are tons of factors to throw around here.

50 yards, depends on shot placement.

Most of the deer I have shot have gone less than 60 yards.

With good shot placement, I would say 50 to 75yrds in my experience.

If I had to guess an average of all the deer I’ve shot:…….60 yards?

On good shots in the chest cavity (lungs and heart), deer normally go somewhere between 25 and 100 yds. Every once in a while, maybe 125yds. I’d say the average for deer I shoot is around 60-75yds.

Like said above, if the shot is not in the chest cavity, it could be anywhere from 20yds to miles, or not ever recovered because of no sign or the critter not being dead!

10 seconds max on good chest shot
                            30-100 yds
