I’m really curious to see what the weather change brings in terms of deer movement this week. I know we’re in that December lull but until now the last few weeks I’m seeing fewer and fewer deer on camera.

I’d really like to take a doe but I need to see some first. Lol

The kid and I made a run up to our place after lunch. It's a lot wetter up here than at my house. Saw 3 does on the way in. This evening is more of a pig hunt for us both. He'll go back to archery in the morning. Probably our last deer hunt together till next year. He goes back to skool in January

He spent 3 days up here single man it and stacked 3 or 4 pigs. After his south of the border deer I don't think he truly wants to shoot another deer. Just sit and watch them.

I had unusually slow movement this morning ahead of the front. And that’s very unusual for that particular stand. The next 3 mornings should be good. I can surely understand his mindset Quackerbox after that trip down South. That’s a game changer for most.

Just checked a camera on a hand corn pen lastnight..I’ve had no daytime pictures whatsoever the past 5 days. I normally have a lot of mid day movement at the spot. I find that very odd.

Clear sky at 1am little N wind, clouds at 5 and wind is easily 10 at gusts. Temp did drop 10 degrees overnight.

Watching a spot with 2 feeders that go off 20 minutes apart. Had deer under both prior to spin. In fact one of them had 2 does laying under it waiting.

3 bucks fed under the other, one being a target deer that I haven't seen all year. Junior happened to choose wrong this morning.

"Bumps" standing within 15 yards of a ground blind. He and another deer acted like they wanted to chase a yearling doe while a 3rd buck had no interest

Absolutely correct. Beauty berries in sept, will be the only thing for a couple of weeks. They will get stupid fat on them. Some years berries last all fall.

Kid and I had a great weekend. We saw LOTS of deer, especially yesterday. Everywhere we went we saw deer. He had a brush with a dandy of a buck at 10 yards for the second time and couldnt get a shot. Naturally the deer left him and came to where I was at. Having lost weight from the rut his head gear looked exaggerated and it was awfully hard not to shoot him.

Id already passed this deer 2 times with a bow so why would I shoot him with a gun? Id like to think this late in the season, since hes become a regular again hes got a solid chance of being exceptional next year. Depending on what he does over the summer he just might force me to hunt him next season.

i am in the same boat. i think this deer is bigger than i am giving him credit for off the pics, but hes been a regular and i am thinking about going after him. there are a few bigger still around but they havent been close near as much as this guy.

the video of him really shows his frame and its better than it looks in the pics.

Took a break yesterday to patch my hand corn pen. I’ve got a good feeling about this afternoon, but I’ve been wrong before ��.two days ago my shooter was in at 6pm. Just need him to be earlier

I sat in a popup all day Saturday and rode out the storm but saw nothing. Wind got so high I had to hold the blind down. Didn't expect to see a lot of deer there, just watching a trail that my target buck travels frequently.
Sunday morning I sat on a feeder on the edge of a sanctuary area and saw a 6 point and a nice 8. My camera on that feeder showed lots of daytime action the past week with groups of bucks, including a big mature 8 that hasn't shown himself since October.
On the drive home Sunday afternoon I felt like I couldn't shake the chill from the morning. Checked my temperature and had a fever of 100. As a precaution, I started taking Quercetin and zinc immediately. Home covid test yesterday showed positive, and I ran a low fever all day. Fever broke at 9:00 pm last night and today I feel 99% back to normal...no symptoms whatsoever. Since I can't go back to work for a while I plan to quarantine myself at the lease. Sure hate to miss the family Christmas though.

Winter solstice afternoon hunt here in Polk County. Watching a food plot for nephew who is hunting in another stand. We are trying to find a nice buck that keeps randomly popping up on different cameras. I am done so I am armed with a Tecate.

Yeah I haven't seen anything since the dink walked off at like 430. The wheat field that the buck is in in that video has been stealing our thunder lately, my neighbor said there aren't any deer in it right now either, which is strange.

I'm taking my son to a different property in the morning looking for the donkey 9 I've posted before, he was there this morning at 830. We'll see....

Sounds like this weather is really messing things up around E. Texas.

Running out of time for this season. Looks like last week to sit in the woods will be a warm muggy one and hoping for a miracle the target buck walk by.
