Almost 11 and I finally have some deer out feeding

I had deer on hand corn at 6:30am. Young 8pt I had never seen before came in at 7:15 and pushed a doe back and forth through my area until 8:15am. I just got out of the tree and jumped a doe walking out.

North liberty county was lit up this morning. Between my hunting buddy and I we saw 8 bucks and 5 does. We both ended up shooting a doe and his weighed in at 114 live weight. None of the bucks were mature (3.5 and younger) but it was still a good time. Had a young 8 point running does around the feeder and grunting for about 30 minutes. He really put on a show lol

Yea well the gun fire will change next weekend. When I used to hunt up there by you every opening weekend by 8:00 am someone would break out the ARs and shoot for hours both morning and evening. Drove me insane. Sorry for the slow evening.

Slow for me right now. I’ve been in the woods almost every day and night since last Saturday. I have seen only a few tiny rubs, barely any scrapes and only a few of those were active. I don’t run a lot of Cameras, did catch a 2 small buck after 2-3 days being out. I don’t think the big deer have come out trolling yet, setting up areas around does.
The areas I usually hunt have big deer moving through them, usually the end of this week to next week.

I’ve seen less deer this year than usual, but the one I have seen are groups of does with No bucks anywhere around. 2 small bucks came to rattling horns. I can usually get a dinky spike to always come in, havnt seen one this year. Activity overall seems slower to start than the last two years anyway.
I havnt seen as many deer on the side of the highway, and none crossing the backroads when going out to hunt.

I’ve seen 5-6 coyotes, which is more than I’ve seen past 10years. Pigs are out of control!

I hunt east Texas public land. I don’t hunt the same spots, always moving around to see if activity better somewhere else’s. It seems to be slow everywhere.

I have seen some 10-11am activity, I havnt started hunting all day yet, since so slow I don’t know what’s going on between 12-3pm.

Hopefully picks up this week, before the guns come out

As should be expected on Halloween… good movement here in northeast polk county so far this am including a buck in full on stupid mode running across my open field (not sure where doe was, but he was digging hard). Maybe you have read some of my musings about overall recent disappointing deer numbers. I saw more deer so far this am than I saw all summer poking around on my place. Now is the time to be hunting. Yes

Thank you. I am about to get down. Man, it was chilly early. Broiling now. This am def was the jolt I needed. Days leading up to Saturday will be good. I am a big believer in the first week of November.

The deer hunting right now is almost as bad as the Astros. I spent four days at the lease and saw more movement Thursday and Friday in the gale force winds than I did yesterday and today. Cameras are dead, movement is dead, there is just nothing going on right now and I can’t understand why.

Had 3 sits in hardin county, and all we saw where doe and fawns. Not 1 buck, they are rutting hard right now, thats crazy not 1 buck cruising with all the doe out

It's just stupid in Houston co right now. I mean stupid. A guy could get run over by a rut crazed buck today. I have totally lost count of the mature bucks I have seen in the past 20 hours. Stupid i say

Yep it has been the same way for me in Houston County today.. Bucks were running all over chasing does and grunting up a storm this morning. Saw my target but he was 60yds.

Had 3 new bucks at the house corn this afternoon. Watched a 3.5 year old big 4 point back down a 4.5 year old 9 point. Several legal bucks but nothing that I would say sure nuff shooter for my place.

I was hoping to see a lot more deer hit the ground with youth weekend going on. I wonder what the kill off was from this past winter, there seem to be a lot less movement so far based on what I read on here and hear from friends. Hope it picks up soon

I'll contribute, best I've got on cam so far haha... I did have a neighbor tell me he's got 3 shooters on cam, so hopefully they'll funnel on down to me. Halloween is usually about when the switch flips.

And yes, that's 3 moultries at that spot. The county road is only about 50y from this cam, it's a popular spot for late night teenage shenanigans, I can't afford to leave anything good put there.

I have used those in remote locations. The flying squirrels usually have a hole crewed into them within the first or second night they are out.

Seen soooo many deer today, but all young. Decided to go watch some of our youth girls play their district volleyball game (they won!). From my house to Pittsburg I lost track of bucks standing on road side and wide open fields. A few had doe. Hopefully going tomorrow

I’m seeing fewer and fewer deer on camera at my lease at a time they should be all over them. Of course this is on timber company land so most rut activity goes unseen. For the next three weeks though I’ll be at out farm, perched on top of a ridge in a great big ol’ hay pasture where I can watch and see those suckers running everything everywhere. LOL

But seriously, I’m really getting frustrated with deer movement at my lease.

Kind of got the same frustrations. Activity on both cell cameras have being little to none and what is showing up are all very young.

Came back to my lease yesterday morning to sit in a tree all week. I saw one yearling spike yesterday and that was it. And nothing moving at all this morning, at least so far. Unfortunately my place is extremely overgrown with underbrush and weeds this year. Couldnt even access areas with neighboring pastures just to watch for them.

I spooked a couple deer walking back to my 4 wheeler last night. What looked like a decent size buck (tall at least by the height of the eyes) with a doe. I am wondering if are locked down already.

Looks like rain all day tomorrow for the Grapeland area, with a very cool Thursday. Maybe that will be the day with cool temps and less crunch when I walk to my tree.

Have been hand corning everytime I go, got pics of a legal buck (very rare out there). 1st legal buck I have ever tried to kill. Did a estrus drag rag and had great wind. Target buck walks out down the road on the drag rag, sits at the corn that is 30 yards away. I fire a broadside shot and it felt great. Arrow went through and could easily find the blood trail. Tracked him for 120 yards and then he went into a neighbor property (who I feel would shoot me if I trespassed - he is crazy). Long story short, I have no idea why this deer traveled 120 yards over to his place with such good blood trails. I searched all over on my property and I lost him. Devistated.

I waited 45 minutes to go look for him and don't think I bumped him at all b/c i heard nothing when walking around. This was my 2nd shot at a buck with a bow and feel very down about losing him. Does a good hit deer usually go over 120 yards sometimes?

Don't trespass but I would definitely try to get in touch with the neighbor and ask for permission. Explain that you have blood all the way up until his land and you don't want the animal to go to waste.

He never laid down or anything from the blood trail, just a straight fast walk out of there leaving blood on the ground and on brushes, just was getting the heck out of there...

He is not a stable human being and I will not drive on his property to begin with and no one has his cell number - I have tried.

Post pics of blood trail. Without a video or pics there's no way for us to be able to tell you. Walking with consistent blood sounds like brisket to me but that's just a complete guess.
