Won this S&W 617 10 shot 22lr in a bet a few years back. Was told if I could stalk and kill a hog with it over the weekend trip it was mine for the keeping. Started with a 200# boar I hit a few times and was chasing him through the woods after and just couldn’t get a kill shot before he hit the thick stuff and lost my trail. Then got a 50#er from 43 yards and dropped it where it was. Claimed my beautiful prize and had some pork as well.

Started life as a Ruger, but several Volquartsen upgrades later it is a frankenstein that shoots stupid small groups at 50 yds. Too much fun shooting suppressed.

That’s cool… I’m looking for a deal on the right 41 also…

I only have one 22 LR gun left, I got rid of the others, wished I would have kept my S&W 22 semi auto pistol, that thing was accurate and a lot of fun to shoot.

This is a H&R 999, my grandfather gave me when I was probably 14. I was big into handguns at the time. I did not like the factory grips that came on the gun. So I made some out of mesquite. I made the grips and did some trigger work on the gun, when I was probably 16, maybe 17. I was working as a gunsmith apprentice at the time. My grandfather was a gunsmith, then a good friend of the family was a gunsmith. This was my first gun project. The trigger is not bad, from the factory, it was pretty heavy, or at least I thought it was heavy, compared to the guns I usually shot back then.

The Contender was my squirrel gun around my house for years and killed massive amounts of them. The other is a Walther TPH, the smallest double/single auto .22 ever made. It fits right in your pocket and is fairly accurate as well.

Terrible pic. Colt Frontier scout made in 1958. Was my grandads and got passed to me. Pretty sure it was one of his flea market finds. At some point the fake pearl grips were added. Smooth as butter like a colt should be.

Yes sir, they are good. Ruger put the best barrels that came off the line on the government models. I put those Volquartsen grips on it when I was shooting competition and they really do a nice job, almost like shooting from the bench while standing freehand.

I've got one of the MKII Govt Targets with some pachmayr grips on it. Was the first pistol "I" got when I was around 12 that my dad bought me. It's still the most accurate handgun I own. I was in middle school at the time and the english teacher asked us to write what we did that weekend. I wrote that I shot my new .22 pistol and said teacher called my parents about it. This was back in 2003. I'd probably be in alternative school these days

How times have changed. Back in the early sixties, our dads would pull us out of class to go rabbit hunting and we’d bring pelts and horns to school for show and tell.

My dad bought me a Hi-Standard Sentinel for my 21st birthday. I still have that one along with 3 Hi-Standard semi-autos. My go to is a Ruger MK IV. I had a MKII that I gave my nephew and it had a better trigger than the MK IV. Thinking of changing it out with a competition one.

I've had many 22 handguns. They are gone with no pics. The only one I have pics of is a JC Higgins model 88 (AKA High Standard Sentinel) w/ 6" barrel, 9 shot, DA/SA.

As with most guns like that one, it is condition and if all the accessories are there. 1200-1800 is what I see most of the time, there are always exceptions though. One without the case and accessories or fair condition will bring 800-1000. But, I am far from being any kind of expert on firearms so take all that with a grain of salt.

I had one of those, put a red dot on it. I would shoot plates with it, and coons, squirrels, possums, all types of other critters. For a box stock gun, it was pretty dang accurate, and a blast to shoot.
