4th Of July Meat Sales

I looked for a bit on the interwebs and couldn't find many sales on meat. I'm hoping to stock up on ribs and brisket.

I've found that one H-E-B will list brisket at a certain price per pound, others around it won't have the same price nor will they honor the other store's price.

Yep, took mine to the sale barn in Decatur. With this drought we don’t have a enough grass.

Wish we had an Albertsons near by.. That's a super deal on choice ribeyes for $4.97.

In town at Randalls (same owners) it's 6.99. But for select crap.

Have the stores app on your phone…..physically go to it and click on the “digital deal”. At the store they’ll ask you if you are a member or have rewards card….give them your phone number and voila! That basically sums up how they work

Found briskets at HEB in Huntsville. $45 for 11 lb (trimmed) and (untrimmed )13 lb for $40. Not sure if that is a “sale” but its not a horrible price.

Thank to all that contributed to this thread. 4 briskets 11-13lbs, 4 racks of ribs, 10 good looking choice ribeyes steaks, and 20 assorted pork chops for us. Nice little haul and I'm not sure I have any room to even pour water in any of my freezers after today combined with my Memorial day haul... Briskets were Angus Choice at Albertsons... Actually both Albertson's and Koger had really nicely marbled briskets with thick flats. I was pleasantly surprised. Krogers bone in ribeyes were really good as well. I didn't buy anything solid red and questionable just because it was on sale.

Not to hijack, but I know some of the brisket gurus are on this thread. I bought one a while back when they were on sale and plan to smoke it for the 4th. How long does it take to completely thaw a 12 lber?

30-45 min in the microwave on high and you should be good.

I’d say at least a couple days in the fridge.

4-5 hours on the counter....1-2 days n a fridge depending on how cold you keep it. And being red meat, I'd have no issue doing it several days before on the counter and putting back in the fridge while still cold until I needed to smoke it. That way you know its thawed properly by the time you need it.

Hannah picked up two briskets from Kroger in Cstat. We couldn't find last week's deal on pork butts, but I picked up a couple of butts and a couple of pork loins when HEB had them for $1.27/lb.

We're breaking out the MEAT! Grinder this weekend to process enough for us and the girls in Cstat! We're also curing and canning pickles, the freeze dryer is currently loaded with kale and spinach (Hannah wants greens powder for smoothies), I'll be slicing freshly cured and smoked pork belly, and I'm going to make seafood chowder from some of the abundance of fish we caught in Cabo and last week offshore!

...and for good measure, Hannah wants to make risotto this weekend!

I'm cooking 10 briskets and 20 pork butt for the Masons club in Alvin. Then Masons selling BBQ July 4th at the College before the annual fireworks display at Bob Briscoe Park.

Kroger meat is fine...If you were a good enough cook, you could make it incredible Ducko...

I guess if all you buy is junk from Kroger you just dont know any better. Enjoy your dawg food, try some sage on it, it may help. I'd rather eat my nutria than dat junk you call meat from Kroger

That looks great! It's not Wagyu competition brisket, but the Kroger Choice briskets were decent quality. I still ground them up into burger and chili grind, though!
