Default The Woodlands bald eagles - February edition

The youngster is growing but still a bit from fledging. Mom and dad aren't both hanging at the nest anymore but there is normally one there. This was mom, never saw dad.

I fished a tourney at Broken Bow in SE OKLA several years ago in February. It was cold as can be and my partner and I weren't catching anything while we chunk and wind our rattle traps. Literally, out of no where and about 30 yards away, a bald eagle hits the water and pulls out about a 3 pound largemouth. It flew in front of us as if it was taunting us, lol.

It was hilarious....and frustrating...

I actually use a couple of different ones. The flight shots where with a Sony FE 100-400 and the others with the Sony FE 200-600.

The shorter one was used on the flight shots. Never know which way they will go so shorter gives a bit more room. The longer used on static shots.

Very cool Bill - 'preciate you sharing.

We are so blessed to have critters to watch - when I was a kid the eagle and hawk population had been pretty decimated - first eagle I ever saw was on Lake DeGray in Arkansas probably 20-25 years ago - what an amazing sight!

Sony

The lens is pictured further up in this thread. I use a combination so it's better to look at the site the photo is linked to for further info on the exact equipment.
