so I decided to try making a knife.... 3yrs ago...
finally finished up #1 tonight.
took a long time, but lots of downtime (often weeks/months at a time) when life was busy. initially had to build a work bench, and got to acquire some tools along the way. also, when I decided to send out for heat treat, it meant I "had" to really get a few up to that point to get more done for the $.
this is stock removal with files and later a harbor freight 1x30. good bit of sandpaper too . it's 1080 steel, forget what kind of wood in the scales, but I attempted to stabilize it (cactus juice, pickle jar, hand pump).
looking forward to finishing up #2,3,4,5 so I can justify buying another bar of steel and trying to get better results while not repeating many lessons I learned along the way
