Double rainbow at the lease, view from the camp house and getting a little lunch at Coopers in Mason. Sometimes I overlook cool things (pretty in it's own way) like this cactus.

Provided there isn't too much for the deer to eat this ought to be a banner season for the hill country hunters.

Speaking of too much to eat. When can y’all usually tell what the acorns are gonna do? Feel like it’s probably too early right now.

Me and the boys are taking corn feeders back out to the ranch this weekend. Brought them home to blast/paint them and make sure the motors are working right.

Finally figured out how to get pictures off my new computer. Pictures are from about 2 weeks ago. Got some great young deer and a few interesting mature bucks. Excited to see what comes and goes once they shed their velvet and the shakeup happens.

We thought he was 3 in 2019 which would put him at 5 this year. He is a typical 12 point with a 13th g3 point growing from his main beam.

I can see that, but your deer must have a lot bigger heads on them than mine. That in-line point he has this year is killer.

I can easily see a 3yo in that Ď19 pic but wouldnít put a run down 4yo past him. Heís a giant and I donít really think you will do wrong either way.

Youíve always got some studs! I havenít pulled cards in over a month but I wasnít real impressed with what I saw. My biggest buck didnít jump at all, and may have gone down a little. Some younger bucks did make huge leaps though. I, like you, donít have anything that really pops for me yet this year.

Itís early yet and once they shed everything will start to move around. Iíve seen deer that didnít make any increase in antler size one year make a giant leap the next year. Hopefully that works out for you. We are headed down this weekend to fill protein, corn, and cotton seed again. Should be a fun weekend. Hopefully we got something new show up.

Mostly the same nice young bucks showing up. The last 10 and the 7pt in a few of those pictures are on the hit list but everything else is safe from us. The 10 right below the drop tine deer is a 6 year old this year but only grew one of his brow tines for some strange reason. Itís our 3rd year of history with him and heís always had both in the past so we are gonna let him ride and hope he puts it back on next year. Filled up corn, cotton seed, and the protein feeders again this past weekend. With feed prices this high Iím gonna have to take out a loan to keep deer hunting. Buying in bulk has helped but it still ainít cheap.

And I canít recommend one of these trailers enough. It took us about 10 minutes a feeder to put out about 6200lbs of feed. Wood Seed and Harvest in Harper has been really good to us since they opened this past year. They charge a small fee to rent the trailer if you buy in bulk from them but itís worth itís weight in gold. It was my first time to use it, but definitely wonít be the last.

Great looking bucks Lane!! I was scrolling through your pictures and saw the body on the 9 without a brow and said “he has some old ones showing up now!!”. Seeing bucks like yours and Kyle’s make me want to really start pouring the protein to them, I just got to open the pocket book!
I’m finally headed to the ranch for a quick trip on Saturday. Looking forward to checking cameras for the first time in almost 2 months. I’m betting my camera cards filled up a month ago though haha

Only had one camera up and running. Was looking for a couple specific deer. Found one. Gonna try to get my daughter on the 8 point. The other buck is throwing me for a loop on age. 99% sure he gets a pass. Iím not sure what Iíll do if he steps out when Iím with my daughter. Itíll be her first deer/buck. Family place. Fairly small acreage. My dad hunts it once or twice a year. Iím the only one who hunts it besides him. Either way, itís a good start to another year. Still looking for some other bucks I let pass last year. Pastures look great. And weíve been covered up in turkey which is odd!

Itís my wifeís family land and Iíve been hunting one small 10 acre field of it for the last 3 years. This year they leased us 500 acres of it. Itís just my dad, my brother and I which is nice to be able to run it however we want. Weíve really been pouring the feed to them the past few months and plan on keeping it that way. This place has a ton of potential. Hopefully we can get the extra 1200 acres of it and really start managing for some hill country giants. We need to get together and share a cold beer and campfire this year.

I think this is the most desirable buck on our place. He is 6 or 7 this year, big 8 with 2 kickers on the same g2 90 degrees from eachother. I think he scores high 140s

Heís a hoss. I had one similar get killed in a really stupid way last year. He was a 4 year old that was dang close to 150Ē. This year we havenít seen anything nearly that big, but itís also our first year on the new place. Iíd say about half of our bucks have stripped their velvet now. Lots of new bucks showing up and several starting to disappear. Hopefully something good wonders our way.

This is year three watching a buck I call ďOff LimitsĒ. He should be 6 this year, and lost a few inches from last year I believe. Still going back and forth on if itís time to hunt him, but I think itís time.

I got everything back in order a week or so ago. Gonna go out this week and check on stuff and pull camera cards and maybe set out some more cameras on water and trails to get an idea. We let a lot of good 4.5 yr olds walk last year and had a few 5.5+ bucks walking around last year that we didnt kill.

Heís a great buck. My brother would give his left arm to kill a buck that size with a main beam that tipped down like that.

Is your brother in good shape? There are times I could use a third arm, but Iíd really prefer a right one.

This is the first year his main beam has done that. Not sure if he damaged it, or it just corkscrewed naturally. Looks pretty awesome from the side.

1st pic is San Saba, 2nd pic is Richland Springs.

First one appears to be mature with that much mass but not a good angle and the 2nd one is too hard to see.
