    UV Water Sterilizer

Anyone running a rainwater collection system with a UV Sterilizer? Would like to know your experience. Have you tested the water before and after the sterilizer? Any issues with bulb life? Flow rating for residential use?

When I work for the city utilities we had one on a very shallow well. Can't remember the flow but it work very well. We would change the filters out before the uv and clean the tube the bulb was in 2X a year and replace the bulb every year I think. Not hard at all.

That sounds a lot like my application. I have a private water well. In my area water wells tend to produce natural gas also. So the submersible well pump delivers to an open tank through two spray heads. Then the pressure pump delivers to the house. I have treated the well several times and it always comes back with coliform but no e-coli. I suspect the open tank is introducing the bacteria. Considering using the UV cell as a final treatment.
