Do you/will you shoot pregnant does?

Many does in the hill country are most likely entering the second month of gestation. Just curious who does and does not shoot pregnant does?

You don’t know 100% until you shoot one. Ain’t no different than shooting one early. Dead doe isn’t going to have a dawn no matter what time of year she is shot.

Agreed. She wants a pass from me, she better have a baby by her side.

Yes. They either are pregnant or would of been pregnant. No difference. I also like to get my fetal scale out to determine when she was bred. Invaluable management tool I think.

If you wait until after the rut to shoot them and have some buck genetics you want passed on you take a chance on killing the doe he bred. That's the main reason we tried to shoot them pre-rut.

Yes I do. But only if I have not tagged them before the rut, and that is assuming they took during the rut. But I do not purposely wait until later in the season to do so, just the way it works out sometimes.
