    Lake Calcasieu Help!

I'm staying at the Nugget and fishing tomorrow and Thursday. The plan was to fish Sabine, but have decided to give Calcasieu a whirl. Can anyone steer me towards a public boat ramp? Thanks!!

Which side of the lake you want, east or west?

Boat ramp on Sabine? Take 27 out of Lake Charles down to 82, as soon as you cross the causeway on south end of Sabine Lake, there is a boat ramp on your right.

No sir. Lake Calcasieu. Sabine was the original plan.

Go to Spicer’s Marina and launch there, or go to Dugas’s Landing on the South end.

These are both on the West side.

How accessible is the lake from this marina?

You have a light North wind, you should have birds working. The South end of the lake has a lot of small reefs spread out everywhere. You see a pvc pipe likely that's a reef.

                        Also could drift West Cove.

Check out the coves along the East shoreline as well.

This time of year if it is not to windy you should have birds working everywhere. People have been tearing them up in Prien just by where you are staying, also if you go North to Lake Charles you may pick up some trout drifting the edges of the deep hole in front of the civic center.

Even up to the saltwater barrier can be decent if it has not rained much.

Main lake the old jetties should be good(can find on a map)
Any of the weirs- East side.
Fish the ship channel and find ledges and y'all will smack flounder. Ferry landing in Cameron is an example.

                          Good luck.

There is a public boat launch about 10 minutes form the Nugget that we used when we stayed there. I dont remember the name, but shouldn't be too hard to find someone that does.
