We have an issue with stray cats in our alley. A neighbor a few doors down, rent house, feeds them. I jump 4-6 in my garage nightly trying to get into our dog food. Typically I’d use the .22 but in our new neighborhood I can’t. Tips to trap them would be appreciated. I’ll dispose of them properly [emoji6] I have caught some cats in my dog proof coon traps, not sure if I should try them in the new hood.

Trapping nuisance cats?

Had a similar problem at my grandparents place. Lady across the street used to pour out a 25lb bag of cat food on her porch for all the "starving and lonely kitties out there". She had probably 60 around her place in a few months time, I can't even begin to describe the smell. I used a medium (think half again as large as a coon trap) live trap with a smear of cat food on a paper plate. Caught three or four at a time morning and evening initially. Tapered off a bit after the first week. Just so you are aware stray cats are typically very very angry in a live trap so when you take them to the local shelter or rehome them out elsewhere they are going to come out of that trap as a ball of fur and teeth.

Trapping nuisance cats?

Not sure what you’re talking about. I have decided to coincide with these lovely kittens and will allow them to run freely throughout my neighborhood as they please... just in case.

I use live trap and dry cat food, cat food smell is about as any other cat smell, it's a never ending stream, got 3-4 ccl's within a few blocks. Out here in small town there's an added problem, several cat food stations don't get by the nearby coons, possums, and skunks so I keep 3 traps going 24-7.
