Congrats on the bear. The numbers of bears should be climbing in CA since they outlawed dogs for bear hunting a few years ago, not that there wasn't a lot to begin with. Before I moved to Texas in 2007, I would see more bears in Trinity County, CA then legal bucks during archery season. Lots of bears in north part of the state with tons of public land, in fact your chances are probably better to kill one on public land then private or at least as good.

Was in Yuba County. In state license is $47 and some change. I live and work on the property where I shot it so it was on our 300acres. Cost was my time, blood, sweat, tag, and sleep haha

Nice. I have fished up there by the UC Davis ranch.

After squaring this bear he measured right at 6'6". I am looking at options for display but if price were no issue, I'd be doing a rug with a full head with open mouth.
