    I'm a big 1/4 bore fan & have a soft spot for the 257 Roberts & my great grandmother's 722 is still my go to rattling gun. Stock was cut a little & easy to point & great grams even installed a tiny compass into the grip cap to help granny find camp. I load some old traditional 120gr Hornady Spire HP's that is just golden with the roberts velocity.

    I'm scoping an original 25-06 sendero right now & gonna see how she prints tomorrow but will be trying the lighter 100gr barnes...next cal will be a wby & think it & the 280AI are the perfect all around whitetail rounds in my eye for blind hunting.

      257 WBY, absolute laser and with a 300yd zero it’s A no hold to 400. I don’t fun shoot that gun very much because as mentioned it’s a barrel burner.

          had a Weatherby Vanguard for a while that was impressive for accuracy. Never bothered to reload for is as the Factory loads with the 100gr Barnes and 110gr accubonds were accurate enough out if it. 1 3/4 groups at 200 yards ain't bad. Elk did not argue it was not shot with a big enough gun.

                Be aware that this caliber is a barrel eater. I had a Weatherby RC and shot it out within 800 rounds. I like to shoot guns, and shot out a 7mm-08 too. I took it to a local gunshop and traded it off for a SS Ruger Bisley in 41 magnum, and ordered another Weatherby Accumark. Here are some pics of the throat and bore of the first 257 I owned. Great caliber and a favorite of mine. Now I hear there is a 257 Creedmoor coming out.

                      I have a Remington 700 LSS in 257 Wby. It’s super accurate and I hunt with it all the time.

                          A .250 Savage is on my wish list.

                          I would prefer it in an old 99. In decent shape of course.

                                Just so I don't get anymore confused:
                                A 6.5 creedmor cartridge does shoot a .264 diameter bullet? (this is per wikipedia, I don't re-load)

                                .264 = 6.72mm
