I asked Donna on facebook what happened to the boy, David. Here is her reply. (Her son, Kyle Barbour, has a bow shop in Amarillo.)

They moved but the last time I talked to him he was in college and doing great! It took him about a year to get to the point that he wanted to hunt again. One afternoon Kyle called me and said, “Mom, I just sold Tyler a new bow.” We all were thrilled! He’s just a great guy. The thank you note that he sent after I gave him a graduation gift was so touching. We’ve always shared a special bond but it was strengthened not broken by the incident.

Wow Shane, don't know where I was back then! Never saw that original story/thread... Read thru the whole thing, then read the other article... talk about putting a big ol' lump in your throat!! What an awesome God we serve!! Thank you for sharing this with us! It was a good "reality check" for me, for the reminder that indeed God is real and He does real miracles today amongst his people.
