    One 'Unbranched' Antler

While I'm sure this is not what TPWD had in mind in devising the 'one unbranched antler' rule, but it is what it is. He probably would have had about a 15-16" spread before breaking off his right main beam and he was 4 1/2.
I had plenty of pictures of him on my game camera prior to sticking him, so I had proof that I did not break off a beam after ground checking him. Also, his 'stub' was obviously aged - he broke it off weeks ago.
    BTW, shot in Coryell County

I had a certain warden that’s been bashed here often accuse me of breaking off a horn during a draw hunt. He kept trying to get me to admit it. I finally told him I do not need to do anything illegal to kill a deer and he shut up.

Did you not know he was broke up when you shot him?

Yes, I had pictures and I had a few minutes to watch him that morning.

            Lots of sausage right there.
That unbranched antler tag came in handy after all!

Did the exact same thing this year. Buck was still 14 1/2” to the stub

That is a great use of a tag.

I shot this one on a hunt (non-AR county) and he was broke off flush. Considered it a spike in my book Deer was 8.5 was this poor rack.

                        Nice deer. Congrats.

I was wondering, purely bizzare circumstance, but considering an antler or point must be at least 1" to be counted as a buck vs antlerless, what if a buck broke his antler just above the pedicle and it was less than one inch. I'm guessing he still falls under the unbranched antler rule, right?
