We have the Remo door bell, which has free storage or you can pay for extra storage. Thinking now of getting extra outside cameras because someone tried to break into my truck over Christmas. Tagged for later

So if you lose power, system is down, a backup unit would be cell camera. Is that the only option?

You could use a battery backup like the desktop uses to keep the hard drive active. But those don't last very long if you have a multi day situation like last the last freeze in Feb 2021. The hard-wire systems depend on electricity. If you don't have electric going to your "hard drive and wifi", then you won't be able to use a cell to view your cams from anywhere. Hence, the generator. If you choose a battery cam, you might be able to view it if it's Bluetooth and you're in proximity. But if it's not tied to an active wifi that has power/electricity, you won't get any view service outside the Bluetooth zone.

Another thought would be to use cellular game cams. But that might get even more complicated with the time it takes to sort through all the pics, exct.

But it would be good for temporary use or watching an item remotely where there is little human, vehicle, or domestic animal traffic.

I have four ReoLink wireless cameras from Amazon.
$159 for the camera with a solar panel and a caveman can hook it up.
Goes to your cellphone, iPad and desktop.
                    Very clear pictures.
Also has voice and siren function that are included.
Camera can be moved to follow anything thst alerts you.
