I just got back into talk radio and the news after being out of the loop for 5 weeks and have heard people being called "Karens" several times. Where did this new term come from? Who qualifies as a "Karen"??

Karen
Slang
Karen, the given name which has Danish origins, is also used as an American slang term, meme, or pejorative to describe a woman perceived to be overly assertive, domineering, or demanding. It draws from stereotypes of white, middle-aged women. It is also used to refer unflatteringly to women with short haircuts.
EDIT: This is literally what comes up when you google "Karen" now.

Been pretty common term for years, but it's gotten big lately because of how many people want to control other people's life.
Karen watches kids from her front window just in case they step on her lawn, with Facebook always open ready to complain about how the kids stepped on her lawn.
Karen posts PSA's on forums and Facebook routinely for things no one cares about.
Karen has anxiety, and you need to know it.
