Where is the best place to get a good bike for a kid. Not a mountain bike or a fancy bmx one,just a regular bike. The brakes on the ones that are a couple years old from wal mart are trash and i need to get a size bigger. Where can you get a good bike ?

I'd start at pawn shops. Especially now. Hate to sound insensitive, but some may be liquidating unused stuff.
EDIT: Depending on how young/small, may not be possible. -
