    Old Camo Tape Removal

Anyone have any luck taking camo tape off a gloss stock? Only been on there about 10 yrs, even settled into the checkering, I have read about WD 40 and GooGone. Just wonder if there is a secret formula or method?

I’ve used goo gone for things other than wood and it works great for the residue.

Hair dryer worked for me bought a Browning BSS a few years ago that was camo taped in the 80’s. Heat it up a little at a time and peel/rub it off took a couple evenings to get it off. It looked really good when I got it all off.

MEK may work. Might melt the Glock too, who knows.

Goof off is another product and straight acetone will work also. Test in a small spot first. Wear gloves.

Whatever you try, try it on a small inconspicuous spot

The active ingredients in some of the things listed may damage the gloss too

X2 on the hair dryer or a heat gun. The heat softens the glue and lets you peel the tape off.

If the stock is sealed good Goo Gone should be fine. If it is a wax finish I would be careful.
