Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

    [Outro/Breathe (Reprise): David Gilmour]
    Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
    Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

    Pink Floyd.

When I was just a little bitty kid
I remember one thing mama said
"Daddy sends you all of his love from 'Frisco Bay"

And I didn't understand till I was grown
Why my daddy didn't spend a little time at home
Instead of running 'round the country that way

Now, I'm looking at the world through a windshield
Watching it fly by me on the right
Well, there's a cute little honey I'm dying to see down in Nashville
But I'm down around Dallas and I'm rollin' down south tonight

    Commander Cody

Then I always like one line from Bobby Mcgee
Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.

    so many more!!!

      Call out the instigators
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
      Because the revolution's here
      And you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

Block off the streets and houses
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
      Because the revolution's here,
      And you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

Hand out the arms and ammo
We're going to blast our way through here
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here and you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

Storm clouds are building above the timber line
The lightings flashing across the mountain side
The thunders rolling down the canyons of is mind
        Somewhere beyond the great divide
The bugle of the bull elk echoes through the pines

"Baby cried, the day the Circus, came to town.."

"Someone, left a cake, out in the rain"...

"Save me, from all the trouble and the pain"
"I know I'm weak, but I can't face that girl again.,"

"I learned, at life, at seventeen"
We all play the game, and if we dare.
            Cheat ourselves, at Solitaire..

And the worst song, ever written !!!!!
            By, by, miss American Pie..

            "Yesterday, when I was young".

            Anybody guess ??

                I've had Choices
Since the day I was born
                There was voices
That told me right from Wrong
                If i had listened
                I wouldn't be here today
                Living and dying
                With the Choices I've made

As Bullseye said, "He stopped loving her today."

This is hands down the best country song...EVER!!! Makes me want to cry when I hear it! Close thread, moderators!

                  Also, the Guy Clark song:

She did not want to drive
She did not want to fly
She did not want to wait
For a bus to come by
She did not want to hassle
She did not want to hurry
                  She didn't want to know
                  What it cost, don't worry
Baby took a limo to Memphis
Seemed like the thing to do
Baby took a limo to Memphis
She did it 'cause she wanted to

                  Best sung by Rosie Flores!!!

A Few months ago, my wife and 4 of her girlfriends flew to Nashville and spent a couple of days enjoying the sights, then took a limo to Memphis in honor of the song and for one of their birthdays!

You know I never meant to hurt anyone
And I'll face the consequences for everything I done
And Lord sometimes I wonder if you're even there
Cause my burden is backbreaking, it's more than I can bear.

For just sheer imagery and story telling with a single line Max Stalling and REK are pound for pound two of the best songwriters ever
                              - well they nabbed me on the hill that over looked the Rio Grande, I was feeling just like Moses looking on the promised land....
                              Going down in style -
                              Robert Earl
-Now over head an eagle soars and I smell rain coming from the north, I wonder if she'll even shed one tear over me
                              The Pils song
