Supposed to be decently calm this weekend. This is the best time of year to catch trout in the surf, imo. Wife’s got me busy or I’d be going.

Ohhh looks too good almost. Can’t stand the surf when you are waist deep and can see your feet. Green with 1ft of clarity is ice cream

Just throwing this out there for all yall wade fisherman. We stayed at a beach house on Gulf Beach Dr last June and every morning and evening guys would park all up and down the street and wade out into/past this little cove onto the second sand bar and they were hammering the trout. Free parking along the street. Off 257 just after you go over San Luis Pass. Excuse the poor image, but they would park on the side of the street, enter where the arrow is and wade out. Some were catching their own live bait there in the cove, some were throwing plastics....but they were wearin em out.

We left yesterday a.m. from Galveston Island. The wind was very calm when we headed home. It had been very windy our stay there till we headed home. Go figure.

Living on the coast for years I would hit the Galveston Sea Wall rock groins at daylight and smoke the trout in May on top waters and then move off into the surf looking for clear pockets.

Fished the San Luis Pass area this evening with my dad. Caught 7 trout, only 2 kept.

Passing surf side beach on the way out, it took everything I had not to jump in. My old man doesnít like getting beat up.

Also, place Iíve fished close to 20 years is no longer accessible. Got a warning sticker on my truck. Drove around on the way out and saw a couple no trespassing signs, but none the way I drove in. Good things eventually come to an end.

Well I’m on the sea wall now and the wind is really blowing. Probably 20 to 25mph.surf is probably 3 to 4s with close sets.

Sounds like a good place for someone to set up a water ferry just haul them by the boatload over there and let them fish and haul them back at the end of the day.

Fished this morning in the surf on the galveston side of SLP. Found fishable but sporty conditions w/ sandy , streaky water. We found some bait and caught a few keeps and a couple of slimers, all on she dogs. Did't see anyone catching and didn't see any signs that it was getting ready to be on. Bait was present but only active when a shark was chasing, no slicks, no birds. The bay side of SLP looked pretty good but was covered up with waders. Hope ya'll did better then that.

God Bless

I’m going to be in Galveston in 2 weeks.

What bait is best for the bay side and surf side of SLP? Does live shrimp work well this time of the year?

Thanks!

I have a Front Row Beach House rented in Bermuda Beach in Galveston starting on Wednesday-Sunday this coming week. I was hoping for Ice Cream Surf conditions but the Beachfront is gonna be Blown Out.

Taking my Surf Rods to maybe catch some Reds or Sharks. Will also have the small poles for Croaker, Whiting, or whatever else.

Same here but we jumped in at access 5. Rigged up for lures but opted for live shrimp. Very sporty but doable. In 2 hours we had one hardhead. Water looked good but that west wind was no bueno. Drove to the pass and fished the bridge and nothing. Did not see one person catch anything this morning.

Got a few Saturday morning. I let quite a few go that were 15.5 or so as well. With those tides you had about 30 min at daylight to get them. They shutdown quick.
