CanAm Defender XMR trouble shoot…

I have my uncles Can Am for the weekend and noticed that it’s making a beeping sound and there is a message on the display that says Check Smart Lock. From what I’ve read it deals with how the computer applies power to wheels based on different conditions.

I’ve been looking at the web and haven’t found anything concrete or really helpful.

Anyone ever dealt with this?

What year is it?
There was a dealer reflash that had to be done to a handful of the 19 and older units for this problem.

It can also be caused by not turning smart lock off properly. if you turn it on, you have to press it twice to turn it off, not just switch it directly to 2x4 if this is the case.

It can also be a battery/power issue. Check the smart lock cable and make sure its "locked" into place. Pull the seat and check both cables, if its not a solid connection, it'll do that.

If none of this addresses it, its time to get the voltmeter out.

Smart lock is the front diff, it locks the diff when u engage it into 4x4
