I guess we will see how much it will cost when the guy returns

Depends on the type of termites
Subterranean they return to the ground and can be treated by making a barrier with chemical.
Dry wood never leave the wood and must be gassed. Even 35 years ago when I had my pest control business it was really expensive mostly due to liability insurance

Cost of termite tenting

Make them show you said termites. If you buy into their treating program, its going to cost you a lot. I did it to be safe, but when I asked them to show me termites, all they could find was signs of termites in the ground. So, before you get on the hook and it cost you hundreds or thousands yearly, at least make sure youve got a problem.
