Well after 5, 10,20 or 60 shots is it considered random luck?

I saw that on another site.

Yes they took a lot of shots to get there. My question is how many were within 1 or 2 MOA. That may paint a better picture of capability.

Remember 1 MOA is roughly 80 inches at 7700 yards and their goal was 8 inches.

Either way it's an impressive accomplishment when you consider that they're operating at or beyond the equipment capabilities. AND, the wind never stops blowing in Wyoming.

From the pull of the trigger, roughly 24 seconds elapsed before spotters heard the telltale plunk of a 422-grain copper bullet piercing the thin metal target 4.4 miles away, setting a new world record.

Very impressive indeed. I read about here locally this morning.

Kinda takes some of the neatness out of it.

You'd think the world record would be based on a limited amount of tries or maybe repeatability.....so many holes in so many minutes type deal.

Oh well, congrats to them for pulling it off .

Now the goal has been punted for the next challengers.

But to count as a world record and not as luck, wouldn't they have to repeat it? The video says they thought it ricocheted off the bunker.

I bet I could fire 69 bullets out of dang near anything and get just as close.

                        At 7700 Yards?

It's very impressive that they were able to do it, but they have way too much time on their hands.

Sounds like he just missed on purpose 68 times. Giggity!

honestly though who has enough cash to afford 69 bullets?

Well... anything that would go that far. I'm sure my 30-30 could only make it out to 7647 yards.

If I shot at a deer 68 times and hit it on my 69th try I wouldn't be bragging, I got lucky on my last shot.
