Oh it's real easy..........to turn dollars into nickels.
I figured that one out real quick!

You buy whichever one everyone is talking about and watch its value nosedive.

I wish you better luck / mastered skill acquisition than I have at it.

And you sir are the example of "mastered skill acquisition" I was referring to.

It can be done, it's just a nut I haven't spent the time trying to crack to fully understand.

I've watched most of the videos / earn crypto on Coinbase and have a coworker who mines bitcoin at home- we talk.
It's still French to me.

I could (probably) learn French, just don't spend the time required to do so.

Iím in one now that Iím up big on. Iím earning 5 to 7 million tokens per day on the tokens I have staked. Token price is .0007 so do the math on 6 million x .0007 and thatís what my wallet is growing by daily.

Now actually having the project grow enough to one day start pulling profits and doing it so it does not hurt the coin is another thing.

I never understood staking. Does it mean your coins are locked up and can't sell? If so I assume you're way under water at this point.

Cryptos are plumb falling apart ever since the Luna fiasco. But IMO this is a good thing. Every cycle BTC runs up and then falls 70-80% before the next year long rally begins. Always comes back down to about double where it started. Low should be 17-19k is my guess.

But the bad part is it needs to stay under 20k for 6-18 months so enough people give up.

I wish I could find my posts from way back before it broke over 20k for the first time. It's predictable but almost impossible to follow through and make money.

.
Charting worked pretty good if one had the patience over 2.5 years.

A little too early to predict the next wave..But in general once no one posts/talks about BTC (they all give up) that's when the next up cycle starts.

Go read the pages/dates where FOMO kicked in the last two cycles. Get dates from charts. It's amazing to see no activity here until it's going up a lot and then it's constant posts with people saying they're waiting for a dip.

Don't be in a rush but don't forget to get in over the next 6 months or so. Either buy a little each week or watch and wait for no one to talk about crypto to buy.

Who's starting to buy Bitcoin under $19k?

Will be very hard to time the bottom but IMO if one starts to average in now you should do very well over the next 5 years. Buy when others are fearful. My guess is $13-15k will be bottom but that will be hard to time.

* Always the risk of all crypto tanking.. But that same risk has always been there. In other words don't invest what you can't afford to lose.

I’m buying a little just to try to force myself to understand it. I’m a Real estate guy first and foremost, and crypto is so bizarre to wrap my head around . I can see it being very attractive to countries with sketchy currencies tho. No clue what will make a bottom or top.

If I wanted to cash out 1000 Bitcoins today and move investment somewhere else could I do that? I believe that the exchanges limit you on what you can cash out per day or the week. Educate me please.PS, I do not have any crypto, just curious.

So what do you own that will be worth something "when the lights go out"?

This is a serious question.

Stocks = zero - This includes gold/silver stocks
Cash = pretty much zero

Physical silver and gold? No one should buy more than 2-5% of their entire net worth in precious metals... Not unless you're the one flipping the switch for lights out LOL

Obviously investments require the lights to stay on.

The same way your cash is stored in the bank and all the assets in your retirement fund.

Donít get me wrong, the risk is quite different but just about everything is held digitally now. I havenít seen a paper stock certificate since a professor showed us what they look like in college 15 years ago.

Well it seems he was a complete scam artist. Never did jump on the FTX bandwagon, he seemed too full of himself and was the 2nd biggest individual donor to the Biden campaign. SEC is going to be all over him, hopefully he pays for the crime if he was essentially stealing customer funds as purported.

SEC and FBI are all over him as it looks like he was stealing funds to fund his donations to democrats and other charitable organizations. These cryptos are all frauds and I can't believe people invest in them. Bitcoin will also be exposed.

If you think Bitcoin is a fraud you have no idea what you're talking about.

I think most know (even guys that trade) smaller "coins" are all junk. Just trade vehicles like penny stocks to try and make money.

But BTC is actually used. Same with ETH and LTC.

Does anyone know what exchanges can default like FTX just did?

Curious if places like Robinhood can do it and people with money just lose it. Since one can also buy stocks through Robinhood I assume it's much harder.. Anyone know?

What about Coinbase? Being as it's a listed security here?

Binance certainly could. Supposedly they are working on some transparency of their books. Other exchanges (can't remember exactly which ones I read about) have committed to providing Merkle-tree proof of reserves. Gemini is pretty good, and aren't playing the same games as Binance or FTX.

Robinhood has a bit more protection via securities regulation, and presumably more transparency about their balance sheet.

Coinbase, not as much, but it isn't as likely for them to vaporize as they aren't doing the same kind of activity as FTX. US funds on Coinbase have some FDIC-type protection, but not crypto assets.

Best practice is to not keep funds on any exchange, other than that which you are actively trading, or are willing to lose in total if anything does blow up.

i have a little in voyager and they filed bankruptcy a few months ago.

they have been pretty good about communicating with "us" about whats going on and a while back they sent a list of all of my holdings for me to verify. they are selling out to another exchange and have told us that we will be able to keep what we have and it will just transfer over to the new exchange, if i am reading it all right.

i knew there was a risk when i went with them so whatever i can get out of it i will he happy with, because i know there is probably nothing i can do about it anyway lol.

i started buying coins when BTC was around $45k, so i need to it make 1 more run back up there to break even. if it ever does i will be watching closely and will most likely pull most of what i have and let a few of the "better" coins i have ride to see what happens.

Update on Coinbase - I just got an email from them about how they protect user accounts and assets:

- They're publicly traded, so they have audited public financials and $5.6B in available USD resources including $5B in cash
- They hold customer assets 1:1 and don't lend them without consent (major issue with FTX)
- Incorporated in the US. (FTX was based in the Bahamas, with a US-based arm FTX.US which is also now bankrupt)

Commentator said you can't lose real wealth that fast.... I agree. Things have gotten way too speculative.

Both robinhood and Coinbase as a public company has an independent board overseeing it. Ftx had one director (the founder) for most of its history but only added two more recently that weren't independent. Red flag for sure. FTX auditor were apparently suspect as well.
