2nd opinion on Buck?

Had this dude come in this morning at maybe 10 yards. Almost could’ve measured by hand. I had him at a 4 year old and think he would be a good candidate to remove. But I couldn’t pull the trigger cause he was too close to call. I’m confident he is more than 13” but just couldn’t do it. What say y’all? Second deer is of what I’m calling a 3yo that has some potential in a couple years. Sorry it’s a still shot of video this morning.

I can’t see the horns, but I go by the rule of, if you think he’s close, he’s 12”.

Hard to say. My 4 yr old deer have 15.5” ear tip to ear tip span. That deer looks older than 4.5 but that’s also a bad angle for me to judge from. He sure looks close and still inside the ears an inch or so on each side. You probably made the right call.

As deer get older their ear tip spread increases

Think someone mentioned on another thread that 13" was the standard for a 3yo but could be wrong

Jason, I think you’re right on the age. I think I’ve got pictures of him last year, hadn’t realized it until now. I’ll have to dig through old photos.
