        I got one at Mason Mtn 2 years ago, 6.5 yr old. He was twice the sz of the other bucks harvested. Best the biologists could tell me was they thought it was a mix of the minerals in the “granite dome” area of the hill country and a particular plant. But they said that was a guess and it’s still a mystery.

              I was told by park ranger at Enchanted Rock it has something to do with eating the Lichen off the Limestone & Granite in the area. This is also what the lease biologist told them at this lease in Llano. I always assumed they were born that way. I didn't have a scale but I believe this buck easily weighed 150lbs. and they seemed to think he was 4-5 years old.
