    223 vs. 300

So, as well all have seen, there is a debate about the 300 Blackout for hunting purposes, and there have been debates for and against the .223 round.

So, if you ARE only (big word ONLY) hunting deer and pigs in Texas, and using good quality ammo, or maybe you handload, then which, in your opinion would be the better round.

AND as WE all KNOW, there are those that say there are better choices, BUT HEY NOT TODAY, only these two choices are what will be discussed.

    And go......

For me I will take the 223 over the 300 blackout.

Between those two rounds.... I would choose the .300. But I honestly wouldn't hunt with either of those two rounds.

I guess if I HAD to the .223 but E TX Swamp Donkeys and S TX Brush Deer and Hogs over a certain size taken through the vitals would make for some long tracking jobs.

Why not just go .308? I know thats not what you asked.

Fast twist 223 with heavy bonded bullets. 18” barrel.

I know some members cant handle the recoil but..... most of us find it quite manageable

308 out of a semi-auto... ya not too bad. [emoji12]

But to answer the OP’s question I would go 300 AAC Blackout. Especially given the option to load. Sub/super, tons of 30 cal bullet options, and powder options... yeah, this is a no-brainer for me!
