    338 spectre

well, it's been 10 + years since i've played with this one ...
I stumbled into some brass and decided what the heck ... it will be fun!
so here it is 338 spectre ! 300 grain SMK usually used in 338 lapua magnum, inserted into a 10mm magnum case necked down to .338. here is a pic of a 220 smk in a 300blk for reference ... and an old video from 10 years ago as well

I have been intrigued by that cartridge but have never shot one. I would think that rascal would knock the snot out of pigs.

i only shoot 300 subs .. so target velocity is 1050.

sight in at 100 and it's pretty much 1 mil every 25 yards .. makes it pretty easy to connect on steel if you place your targets at 25 yards intervals to 225 yards.

I shot a pig with it almost 10 years ago now , no video ... but it dropped like a stone..

i also shot a section of telephone pole and it burned right through..

              start at 1050fps and it's still going 950 at 400 yards ...

737ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle and still 603ft/lbs at 400 yards

in comparison ,a 556 black hills 55gr sp at 3250fps has 1262ft/lbs at the muzzle ...
at 400 .. it only has 371ft/lbs left.
