    Opinions on Target Buck

I didn't run cameras last season for the first time in years so I am having a hard time determining which buck this is. Some pics make me think he's 4.5 but some make me think he may only be 3.5. What do y'all think?

I'm also curious if you think he'll gross 125" or not? His lack of mass and lack of width hurts him some. He's probably not a shooter for a lot of you. Unless something better shows up, he is my target with my bow this season on our small family property. I'll be hunting Saturday through Tuesday so we'll see what happens.

I think low 20s and older than 3.5

I believe that's a 5.5 yo deer. Deep hips, full shoulders, shortish legs, slight dip in his back, and a little bit of a belly.

        Opinions….oh man. Hang on.

Mine is that the buck is 120 inches +\-
If you like him, shoot him.

I have found that the older ones are not typically camera/feeder hogs. Older deer typically have larger antlers too….and typically come out to play a few days or a week at most at prime time.

Not a 3.5 y/o. Without any history at first glance I'd place him solidly in the 4.5 y/o class and possibly older

You're right under most circumstances. I have found that feeding sweet feed in my little honey hole has changed that some. I shot this 6.5 year old two years ago and he ate sweet feed almost everyday in that same spot during daylight. He kept the same exact patterns this guy is keeping though thi one is nowhere close to 6.5

He is no older than 4 and I don’t think he is going to make 125, but will be close.

That's pretty much where I'm at with him.

122 cause he is a 9. Not sure he would make 120 as a clean 8.

My vote is 4.5 and 120s. I disagree that all properties will have larger antlers on mature deer. We've killed and watch quite a few mature bucks and the biggest was mid 120s. The best I've ever seen on my lease in 9 or ten years was a 140s 8. This year I have one that might crack 130

I wish I would have ran cameras last season so I could figure out which buck he is. I see what you're saying on some of those characteristics. I have hundreds of pics of him and he sure looks 3.5 in some of them. I feel pretty confident he is at least 4 though and that's my personal rule for taking bucks on the property

Agreed Justin that's right where I have him too. I was thinking 122-124".

You don't need opinions, you do what you feel. You will get every opinion in the world and will be even more confused.

This is what we see on our place too. We've had a couple 140's in the last 10 years but the rest of the mature 4.5-6.5 year old bucks didn't Crack 125-130". The biggest was a 8 5 year old 9pt that went 144"
