Congrats that’s really cool, have you been to NM before? Just curious how you knew where to hunt and camp. We are wanting to do this.

I’ve been to New Mexico a few times, mostly hunting antelope and helping with a couple elk tags. My gf had a rifle tag earlier in the year in NM, I figured this place out by combing through the regs and talking to a couple friends from NM.

As far as where to hunt. I drove and glassed, hiked and glassed, climbed and glassed, glassed from camp. All kinds of glassing

Congratulations. Just returned myself after 6 days of hunting in central NM but got tag soup. Looks like you were further north if you had snow to contend with.

way to go Jake. what clothes etc. did you use to stay warm in those temps

I wore good merino wool base layers, heavy socks, Sitka pants, heavy weight Sitka top with a Sitka puffy jacket. Outdoor research gaiters, Kenetrek boots, and beanie.

My camp was a seek outside redcliff, with a cabelas outfitter cot and -25* bag. I used a seek outside SXL stove in the tent.

The temps were cold but the stove helped a ton and the bag could handle it.
