Probably John Wayne’s best movie, certainly his best western. I remember reading most of the book at my uncle’s house when I was about ten. My Granny lived next door and we visited her every Sunday so I got to read it on the installment plan.
John Wayne and John Ford, what a movie making combination. I agree, the cavalry series is outstanding, and just watch Ben Johnson in these movies to see how to properly ride a horse.
The Searchers is my favorite movie, and if it is on I’ll always watch part of it even if my house is on fire. Named my only son “Ethan” after John Wayne’s character in The Searchers. In my opinion, the best movie role ever for John Wayne as he changes from a hateful racist to the protector of the “Cynthia Ann Parker” character played by a gorgeous Natalie Wood.
