29 years ago today I got on my knees and asked God to help me cause there was no way I could do it myself. Haven't had one drink since. Still miss it at times but not overall. Still have to keep my guard up. He's so faithful!
He'll help you if you ask him to.

that's solid! It is hard to wrap your head around the grip that an addiction like alcoholism can have on a person.

Congratulations OP. I decided on Memorial Day of this year that I wanted to be the best Father I could for my little girl that is on the way. I just couldn't factor alcohol into that equation. I had one glass of wine on our anniversary this month, but other than that I don't plan on going back. I hope I can stay as strong as you.

Congratulations Bobby. God is so good!

I reached the point June 2, 2018 that I'd had enough. The bad outweighed the good of alcohol. 4yr 2mo tomorrow and one of the best decisions I've ever made. Thanks for sharing your long term success. Very inspiring sir!

That’s amazing, wife and I quit 21 months ago, still going strong but this gives me encouragement. When you stop drinking you realize who your drinking buddies are vs true friends. It seems at times we are the only non drinkers on earth, finding new friends that aren’t drinkers is tough, seems like everyone drinks, but our faith, family, and life’s are so much better since we quit.

Truth. What's funny is IDC if someone drinks around me any more than if I'm on a diet and you order a big mac.

I take no credit. I'm weak. I woke up in a rehab and work and union reps came to see me and said I will lose my job and the wife said she was leaving if I didn't quit.
My only option in my mind was to hit my knees cause I was backed in a corner and knew I couldn't without His help.
