Praise God. My kidneys are not 100% but have continued to improve overnight. The damage from the heat stroke ought to continue to reverse itself according to the doctor. They are going to discharge me today and do bloodwork in a week to make sure kidney function is back to normal. It also affected my blood vessels (temporarily?) so my blood pressure has been like 98/56 so I don't need BP meds right now lol. I guess I didn't realize how close I was to other organs shutting down, brain damage, or even death. Some things you just can't tough out. Heat strokes are no joke! Thanks you for all of the prayers!

Just seeing this. Glad you’re improving Josh. Heat stroke is nothing to mess with. Pay attention to the warning signs and don’t try to keep going in the future. One thing about heat exhaustion and heat stroke is you’re gonna be more susceptible to them in the future

Just now seeing this…. Glad to see you are doing better. This dang heat is nothing to mess around with. Had something similar fishing back in 2005. Working or playing out in the heat for long periods has never felt the same or ….I’m just more aware and conscious about it.

Good luck continuing on getting better. .

Yea. I got an academy brother that was almost flown downtown during a swat school.

Big guy that wouldn't quit and passed out. He wasn't allowed to do physical anything in temps above 90 for a month

From what I understand you're forever susceptible to heat stroke after one

Dangit. Yah they just came in and told me that basically I won't have another one because my organs will start shutting down before my body let's that happen. They said my kidney function is still very low but a big improvement over yesterday so we are praying that all of the damage reverses itself over the next week or so. We'll know more in 8-10 days. I thank God that I had the seizure that caused my wife to turn around and get me to the ER. If she would have taken me home like I wanted it would have been very bad. Next time I'll listen to my body sooner.

Heat stress/stroke is nothing to mess with. I had a serious bout with it back in 2000. To this day, actually as recent as this past Friday I just can’t tolerate it. I almost passed out on the jobsite. I was in the sun from 07:45 to 14:00 without near enough liquids and could barely walk back to my car. I sat in my car with things going dark and back for 20 minutes before I could even attempt to drive.

It’s no joke.

Hope you continue to be on the mend. It will never be the same for you again unfortunately.

Didn’t know this was happening but belated prayers that you shed this like a bad habit. Guard against getting overheated in the future because this stuff comes back easier than it goes away. Smart had a good suggestion that I follow now. Mix Pedialite and water half and half and sip on it all day in hot weather. It works !

Great news PW! Prayers for your continued healing and strength brother! And this much I do know, Gods plan will happen, maybe not in my “timeframe” or yours, but what He has planned to further His kingdom will not go by the wayside. I said that to say, there are people around you, that you may or may not know about, that He has placed to help you out in this! As in, take it a little easier, rest, and use the people He puts in your life to help! Not telling you what to do, giving orders, or anything like that, I just feel like you’re a lot like me (or a bunch of us for that matter) and feel like you need to do it on your own. God Bless you brother for doing what he has laid on your heart! God Bless, and continued healing, Rusty

Update: More prayers needed. Long story short... I haven't been feeling well all week. Extreme fatigue, lightheadedness, confusion/brainfog, loss of balance, kidney pain, etc. I also have had numbness and weakness in my left shoulder, arm, and hand along with tingling in left side of face. I had testing scheduled for next Tuesday to check my kidney function and called my doctor to check in today and talk about my symptoms this week and how I feel. After hearing what's going on he had me come back to the ER. My BP was 200/105 when I got here and the doctor said the left side of my face was drooping. They just did a cat scan, ekg, and chest xray, along with bloodwork to check my kidney function. We're starting to wonder if I've had a regular stroke along with the heat stroke that caused the kidney damage last weekend. I definitely know my body hasn't been right this week.
