He is from Tacoma, WA. His brother (Michael Putnam) made it on Tour first but struggled with injuries. The younger Andrew made his way up through the Web.com/Korn Ferry Tour and has done fairly well for himself. He's made close to $7mil since turning pro.

Just tuned in in time to see Putnam yank it left on the 14th. He’ll have to go back to publishing books if he keeps that stroke.
Tell him I’ll give him putting lessons for a small percentage if his strokes gained on the green improves.
