We just discontinued cottonseed due to the cost. Cottonseed has protein and fat but pellets have the minerals!

Yep, so frustrating. Have a feeling demand will fall off due to the pricing.

Deer stopped eating protein with everything getting green. They made the decision for me. I have 6k pounds of protein waiting when they decide they want it.

We quit protein about 4 years ago. Cottonseed has been good but we are adding protein back this year. Will continue cottonseed as well.

This was exactly my thoughts. We need rain in a bad way!

I got places in Kaufman, Abilene, and Vernon. Deer have slowed or stopped eating protein. Yes its not green in the sense its a foot tall that cattle like to eat. But all the small stuff is emerging on my places that the deer really prefer before it gets too big. Still need the rain or what has emerged will not last very long. Definitely greener now than last year. Some tanks are fuller than last year but others are lower that have poor runoff.

We only got .008. Still a touch dry.

Greening up here also. Browse and forbs especially. My corn feeders are set for only a couple of seconds mainly for the turkeys. I will be holding off protein for a while. I will do cottonseed again this summer if / when it gets dry again. Not real convenient to buy or put out, but deer love it and we are trying to attract and hold more deer.

we got 2/10” in Zapata but it drizzled all night. I think in some ways this can be better than a 1” rain that comes down in an hour.
